WHAT'S A GOOD SCORE ON THE SAT?

The past few years have seen a dramatic increase in competition for students to get into the college of their choice, making SAT scores more important than ever, especially at SUNYs.

The average 2008 SAT test score was in the mid-1500s out of 2400. Generally, you should aim higher than the average SAT test score for students at your top college choices; then design your test prep to try to reach or beat that score to make yourself a competitive candidate. “Students from the class of 2008 scored on average 502
on the critical reading section. In math, the average score was 515 and the average writing score was 494. Scores are on a scale of 200 - 800”. - US News and World Reports 8/27/2008

According to a recent article in Newsday: “local high school guidance counselors report that more seniors tell them they are applying only to public colleges and universities because of a
change in the family financial situation”. Karla Schuster Nov 2, 2008.
